Our name joins two traditions.
Sittu (思途) comes from Eastern thought and means the path of thought: patient, disciplined reflection before committing capital.
Praxis (πρᾶξις) comes from Greek philosophy and means purposeful action: practical, well-run execution once a decision is made.
We reason from first principles, we don't follow the crowd, and we act once the case is clear. Our aim is simple: think carefully, execute cleanly, and let steady work speak for itself.
BACKGROUND
Three decades in market infrastructure
The team behind Sittu Praxis has built, scaled and run brokerage and trading-technology firms since the 1990s. That work began at Belzberg Technologies, an early developer of electronic trading technology. The team went on to found BBS Securities and Virtual Brokers, both of which were later acquired by CI Financial.
Today, Sittu Praxis Holdings Inc. brings that operating experience to long-term, principled investing from its base in Toronto.
TEAM
The people behind the firm
James Manios, CEO, Co-Founder, With over 28 years in the Financial Technology (FinTech) sector, James brings extensive strategic vision and technical expertise to executive leadership. Throughout his career, he has served across senior management, Director, and C-level roles—including Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He has consistently led engineering and executive teams, directed complex product roadmaps, and spearheaded scaling initiatives at the intersection of finance and software technology. James holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
Chris Hobbs, CFO, Chris has worked with several public companies, and accounting and securities firms in management, director and/or CFO roles in the past 20 years. Chris has extensive experience with go public transactions and capital markets. Chris is a member of the Chartered Accountants of Ontario and holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University
Bardya Ziaian, Co-Founder, Director, Bardya is an entrepreneur, fintech executive, and film producer. He founded Virtual Brokers, a top-ranked Canadian discount brokerage that was acquired by CI Financial in 2017. Currently, Bardya serves as a co-founder and director at Sittu Praxis, advising on early-stage investments, system application development, and independent film production
